I’ll never /
cling to a gull’s back /
as he skims /
the ocean – /
but perhaps one wild summer /
I’ll wing over waves //
gull’s wings /
racing the whitecaps – /
remembering snow /
silently – /
on ivory wings – /
the fairies /
have labored – /
under her snowy mantle /
Mother Earth slumbers //

This piece was written for Bastet’s Shadorma Prompt at MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie, where the prompt photos were “Windsurfing” and “Winter Sleep” in honor of the Solstice. While researching gulls I found this lovely slow-motion video of gulls in flight.
