white sleet in peach street lights –
he walks alone
on morning’s edge
his footsteps blossom and die
on the wet sidewalks
from ten stories high
I sketch his retreat –
warm face, cold window
two lost souls in a fish bowl
but he cannot see the glass
Inspired by Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, where we were asked to write a four stanza renga inspired by a song of our own choice. The song can trigger either sweet or sad memories.
Here is our host’s renga, inspired by memories triggered by Leonard Cohen’s “Take this Waltz”:
the last waltz –
I saw her again after a while
my first love
her blond hair waves in the wind
looks like golden sunlight
in the first daylight
as I awake next to her
she looks so beautiful
“take this waltz”, she whispers in my ear
and cuddles her naked body to mine
