first light on first snow –
the scent of brown leaves

sleeps until spring –
at the pawing of deer
autumn stirs slightly

Linked to the One-Four Challenge at Robyn’s Fine Art and shared with Carpe Diem: First Light.  Probably not my strongest tanka but I like it anyway.  :)

In the One Four Challenge we take one original image and process it in four different ways over four weeks.  We then share a different version each week, and tell everyone what we did / how we did it.  I don’t know photo-editing-ese so please forgive my amateurish terms!

Unless noted otherwise, assume revisions are created with PicMonkey.

WEEK ONE

Original: A greenish, low-light, smart phone photo of Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) outside McConnellsburg, PA, USA.

Final: Green Be Gone! How I remember the day.

WEEK TWO

One: Used the “smudge” texture (rust) in 100% / 20%.

Two: Used “dodge” to lessen the red tint at bottom right.

Third and Final Edit: Used the “urbane” effect to boost the browns and add a dark frame.

Final: Used “urbane” effect to boost the browns & add a dark frame.

Well, it won’t win any awards – but I had fun anyway!  Hope you enjoyed the journey.
