spiraling snowflakes –
the path of water striders
on a rippling creek
◊
on a crisp morning
the whirligigs are bouncing –
cold water, boiling
Linked to Carpe Diem Little Creatures #13: Whirligig (pond-skater, water-strider). Here is our haiku inspiration from Taigi, a contemporary of Yosa Buson:
the whirligig;
when it stops skating,
the legs float away
Our task was to write a classical haiku:
* 5/7/5
* season word (kigo)
* cutting word (kireji)
* deeper meaning
* interchangeable 1st / 3rd lines
* brief moment in time
